1st issue of the EU-Civil Aviation China project e-newsletter

The EU-China Civil Aviation (EUCCAP) project was launched in October 2010. This technical assistance programme is implemented in partnership between the European Union and the Government of the People’s Republic of China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) designated as its beneficiary. It aims at supporting the Chinese Civil Aviation Authority through institutional capacity building. Another objective is to foster the integration of the different regions of the countries and their convergence with international norms and standards in aviation.

The implementing team is formed by Egis Avia, Lufthansa Consulting, Ecorys and Bureau Veritas (project leader).
The first issue of the EUCCAP quarterly newsletter was published early December 2011.

The newsletter focuses on the first actions taken since the project was initiated and details the objectives of the programme. The address of the official website is: www.euccap.org

About EUCCAP :

The continuous and rapid growth in air traffic in China is raising new challenges in terms of capacity and infrastructure. On this huge territory, it is expected that air transport safety and performance should support the soaring economic growth, especially in the Western regions which stand away from this development.

The partners will provide assistance with institutional and regulatory compliance, as well as training sessions in airworthiness, aircraft maintenance, air traffic management and airport activities to enable a safe and reliable development of the air transportation industry by the CAAC.

In the frame of this project, Egis is developing its activities on a unique market. China is one of the World's biggest domestic markets for air transportation. Air traffic is expected to double in the ten next years and about 50 new airports will be built in the country.
