Modernization of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Training Organization
Civil Aviation Organizations worldwide, ICAO and Eurocontrol, are pushing forward establishing uniform standards for the qualifications and the scope of knowledge to be met by aeronautical information services/aeronautical charts (AIS/MAP) technical officers world-wide. With ATC controllers training, this contributes to the safety of air navigation as ATC and navigation systems high level of automation requires ever increasing quality (accuracy, resolution and integrity) of aeronautical information/data.
The modernization of the Egyptian ATC Institute with a set of ATC and AIS simulators is a very important step for training personnel required by the Egyptian Aviation Authorities. It will allow them to meet their short and long term needs for qualified ATC and AIS staff and other demands of neighbouring countries in the Middle East and Africa.
To achieve these goals, the National Civil Aviation Training Organization has awarded a contract to EGIS AVIA for the supply of:
These simulators will be installed in new training buildings, which are being delivered to the EAA at 6th October Airport, 40 km away from Cairo.
EGIS AVIA based its solution on its SCANSIM and ATALIS 2 products and will implement this project in close cooperation with ENAC, the French Civil Aviation School.
SCANSIM is a complete and coherent family of ATC training Simulators, covering all ATC fields in an open architecture: generic pseudo-pilot interfaces and exercise preparation tools which allow users to add new controller or pseudo-pilot positions. This enables the simulation of gate-to-gate exercises. The configuration delivered in this project is very similar to the one which is operational at ENAC school.
ATALIS 2 is an automated Aeronautical Information Services and Air Traffic Services data processing system, designed to offer a complete and coherent solution at a country scale for the processing of aeronautical information.
A small power station (24 kV transformer, generating set, LV distribution) is also in the scope of the contract.
EGIS AVIA has the opportunity to merge its recognized expertise in simulators for Air Traffic Controllers, and aeronautical information operational systems within one unique project, to the benefit of EAA, and to deliver a complete range of ATC, AIS training tools and services”
