The operational services already provided in Tahiti are VIVO (for Oceanic flights visualisation) and SIGMA systems (for flight plans management and general information). TIARE project is ordered by DSNA and consists in providing a more comprehensive and modern ATC system to Tahiti Centre to replace both VIVO and SIGMA systems.Several products will intervene in this construction with the target to minimize specific developments. The air space managed by the centre of Tahiti is 12 500 000 km² large.
Thales has been awarded the major contract in partnership with Egis Avia which will cover a part of it.On the one side Thales will provide its EUROCAT-X system, in charge with radar processing and flight plans management. And, on the other side, Egis avia will provide ATALIS system, in charge with flights preparation, NOTAM management, and presentation of general information to tower and approach controllers.
Both EUROCAT and ATALIS interfaced via the so-called commutator CAGOU (a Message switching concentrator for French overseas territories), connected to external links (AFTN). ATALIS also receives meteorological information from Météo France local observation computer (CAOBS).
The system deployed in Tahiti is called ATALIS 2 a modular software product dedicated to the automation of Aeronautical Information from production and maintenance to operation at Aeronautical Information System (AIS) end-users facilities. The modules which are implemented in Tahiti are:
Egis avia will supply, deploy, instal, train the main users and provide a serious maintenance to ATALIS.
The different users of this new and complete system are:
For this project, Egis avia has adapted the product with the requirements of technical and operational background of the project. Security studies were also carried out to measure the impact of the use on the operations and take steps to ensure a level of acceptable risk.
