Egis Avia to manage Roland Garros Airport extension

Egis Avia is in charge of managing Roland Garros Airport extension in Reunion, one of the French overseas territories.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Reunion – one of French overseas departments – manages and operates Roland Garros Airport in St Denis (north of the island). The institution is planning to start extension works as part of the airport’s development programme and selected Egis Avia to manage this project.

Both subsidiaries of the Egis group with complementary expertise, Egis Avia and Egis Eau decided to team up for this purpose. They will manage:

  • The extension of aircraft parking to accommodate Air Austral airline fleet;
  • The creation of an heliport;
  • The extension of taxiway Alpha.

They will also be in charge of conducting the associated preliminary studies for the project, of providing assistance during procurement process (for public works contracts) and of supervising the construction.

The study covers all modifications and necessary equipment associated to the apron extension such as airport surface marking, lighting, drainage and rainwater collection. Works will be carried out and split into 4 different phases with expected deadlines in 2011, 2015 and 2020. The project is also preparing the ground for the airport to accommodate
larger aircraft such as the Airbus A380 to start operating in Reunion as of 2014.
