ATC training simulators ScanSim

SCANSIM is a comprehensive and modular range of ATC simulators dedicated to air traffic controllers training. This family of PC-based simulators covers all the ATC training needs (from aerodrome to en-route control training, from basic to advanced training programmes). The concepts and specifications are designed by ATC instructors for ATC instructors.

SCANSIM comprises several dedicated simulators :

  • SCANOR: a non-radar (procedural) ATC simulator for basic training. This simulator is particularly adapted to countries whose airspace is not radar controlled.
  • SCANRAD: a radar simulator dedicated to approach and en-route air traffic control training.
  • SCANTOWER: an aerodrome ATC simulator. This simulator is available in 2D version (a cost-effective solution for aerodrome control training featuring a bird-eye view of the airfield) and in 3D version (a 360° view of the airfield from the control tower or from the cockpit of any simulated aircraft)
  • SCANGCA: a precision approach radar ATC simulator to suit needs of training in military ATC operations.

and several associated applications :

  • SCANSTUDIO: an ATC scenarii and flight plan editor allowing the conception, modification and duplication of simulation exercises
  • SCANGEO: an airport and airspace database editor enabling creation of any airspace for the training scenarios.
    .

Any combinations of connected positions (controllers, instructor / exercise designer and pseudo-pilots) are possible to form multi-sector exercises with hand-over and co-ordination functions :

The open architecture allows development of the simulator system by adding new control positions or pseudo-pilot positions.

Through the administrator and supervisor positions, the system and the exercises are configured, adapted and customised according to users and training needs.

This allows the simulation of gate-to-gate exercises (from off-block clearance to en-route control).
