The Euromed Aviation Project is an initiative of the European Union developed in the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Transport Forum intended for the benefit of the Euro-Mediterranean Partners identified as the MEDA Countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey.
The Project is a response to the priority given by the Euro-Mediterranean Transport Ministerial Conference (Marrakech, 15 December 2005) to reinforce cooperation in the field of Air Transport between MEDA and EU and to eventually implement a Euro Mediterranean Common Aviation Area.
A roadmap for the implementation of the Common Aviation Area will be issued at the end of the Project indicating the necessary steps, key actors, initial staging and financing
The overall objective is thus to contribute to the development of the air transport network and to promote economic integration among the Partners by supporting a competitive market, promoting safety and security as well as environmental friendliness, and enhancing regional Air Traffic Management cooperation and harmonisation.
